The Kontakt manual does a decent job explaining these actions. How to Change the Key and Tempo of Your Tracks in Logic Pro This is where you configure loops, detect transients, tempos, etc. There are many other mapping options too, but these are the simple ones.įor looping in Kontakt, get familiar with the Wave Editor. You can go the ultra-simple route and assign one sample per key, or, have muliple samples per key that are determined by velocity. This is where you assemble samples into instruments. I use Kontakt 4 all the time, and have made my own Virtual Instruments with it.įor assembling vintrual instruments in Kontakt, get familiar with the mapping editor. I can manually go in and adjust it to stretch the bar length, but is there a way to have it auto-adjust the length of the sample based on my tempo? If I am working on something that's at 145 BPM, for example, and add this loop, the loop will only play for 1.5 or 1.75 or something measures. Is there a good way to get these various pitches put into one single TN_BolsBass instrument?Ģ) I imported some loops that are at, say 120 BPM. But two things have come up now:ġ) Some of the samples are listed like: TN_BolsBass-D#0, D#1, D#2, etc.

I've decided that I'll use Kontakt as an external sample source because, well, I just think it'll be easier than importing lots of samples manually. My experience with trying to self-teach Ableton Live was, well, a disaster. I feel like I'm starting to understand what I'm doing in Logic and WHY.

Oh, and if David pops in here, I just want to say that your Pro Training Series book has been SUCH a confidence booster. But if there's a way to add these samples to my library otherwise, I'd LOVE to know how.įor what it matters, my iMac is fully up to date, running 9.1.1 and whatever the latest Snow Leopard version is at. Maybe this is the easiest way, to which I say wonderful. This works and all, but I still feel that it's a bit of a long winded workaround.

Once I setup Kontakt, I can navigate to my "External Samples" folder, where I've stored all samples I currently have outside of Logic. Wonderful, not sure why really, but I'll take it. After installing it, it was magically within Logic for me to route to.

What I did was DL Kontakt 4 free version. The loops were easy enough to add (drag and drop!), but the samples. Not so much. I grabbed an issue of Computer Music magazine the other day, and that came with a bunch of samples and loops.

I would love to be able to organize my 3rd party synths and samples in the same way, but I'm totally at a loss on how to do this. When I add a new track with the library opened, I can go through folders and sub folders to eventually reach the synth I want. I have to figure out how to add them to my library. Straight up synths, no loops. But I can't just drag these into Logic, at least not that I know of. I will also pick up a synth pack at point. Wonderful, added and things are good to go. With loops, especially a pack like this where it openly tells me I'm getting x number of loops, I realize I just drag and drop them into my loop browser. The first is one of the various DnB loop packs (being relatively new to things, having starting points like this will help me get motivated to push on and start putting together my own loops and beats, at least in theory, ha). I was considering picking up two additions from primeloops. I tried asking elsewhere and was given a bit of a workaround to my issue, and I don't mind it, but I was curious as to if there's another way.
